Deleting your data

You can have your information removed from Alvand AI. Which route to take depends on whether you have an account or whether a business that uses Alvand holds your details. Both are below, and both end in the information being deleted rather than hidden.
If you messaged a business and want your details removed
Your details sit inside that business’s own account. They are the ones who collected them, and they decide what happens to them, so the fastest route is to ask them directly. If you do not know who they are, or they do not answer within a reasonable time, write to us and we will act.
What is removed:
- Your name, phone number, email address, Instagram handle and profile picture.
- Every message between you and that business, on Instagram and by text.
- Any form you submitted and any booking you made.
- Notes and tags the business recorded about you.
What survives, and why: the fact that a deletion happened and the date it happened, which is kept so that the deletion itself can be proven; and financial records of any payment you made, which tax law requires be kept and which cannot lawfully be erased on request.
If you disconnected an Instagram account
Disconnecting an Instagram account from the Connections screen revokes the access token immediately, and no further messages are received or sent for that account. The conversations already received remain in the business’s inbox, because they are that business’s record of its own customers. To have those removed as well, use the email route above.
You can also revoke Alvand’s access from Meta’s side at any time, in Instagram under Settings, then Website permissions, or in your Facebook settings under Business integrations. Revoking there stops access even if you cannot reach the Alvand screen.
If you hold an Alvand account
An owner can close the account from the account settings. On closure you have 30 days to export everything, after which the account and its contents are deleted permanently.
To delete only your own seat rather than the whole account, ask an owner to remove you. Your sign in details and sessions go with it. Work you did inside the account, such as messages you sent to customers, stays with the business, because it is the business’s record of a conversation with its customer rather than a record about you.
How long it takes
Requests are acknowledged within a few days and completed within 30 days. Deletion runs across the live database and then across backups as those backups age out, which takes up to a further 30 days. Nothing is restored from a backup into the live system after a deletion has been recorded.
